No, they are made with cream, which is derived from cows milk.

Are Kerrygold Packet and Softer Butters suitable for coeliacs and do they contain gluten?
Yes, both products are suitable for coelliacs and they do not contain gluten.

Are Kerrygold Packet and Softer Butters suitable for halal or kosher?
No, our butter processes are not certified.

Are Kerrygold Packet and Softer Butters organic?
No, the milk used in our products is not guaranteed organic.

Do Kerrygold Packet and Softer Butters contain any genetically modified organisms (GMOs)?
Whilst cows predominately are fed on pasture, they will be fed on feed supplements during the winter months and there are no GMO free guarantees on the feed used. Generally, our butter is only made in the summer months when cows are typically fed on 100% pasture.

Do Kerrygold Packet and Softer Butters contain any colourings?
No.

The label says no added preservatives but you add salt, isn’t salt a preservative?
Salt is the only thing that can be legally added to butter and the product can still be labelled butter. In this instance salt is added primarily for taste purposes and not as a preservative.

How do you make Kerrygold Softer Butter spreadable, without the addition of vegetable oil?
Kerrygold Softer Butter is a 100% pure & natural dairy product, containing only one non-dairy ingredient; salt to accentuate its inherent flavour. In order to achieve enhanced spreadability, rather than compromising on the purity & naturalness of butter by adding vegetable oil, we sought a little help from Mother Nature.  During the summer months the pastures on which the Kerrygold cows graze are at their most rich and lush.  As a consequence, the milk they produce is most abundant in naturally softer milkfat.  It is this naturally softer milkfat that is the key to the enhanced spreadabilty of “Now Even Softer” Kerrygold Softer Butter.  Using a gentle cooling and crystallisation process, we have increased the quantity of this softer milkfat in the butter, resulting in a velvety smooth and “Now Even Softer” Kerrygold Softer Butter.
 
Why have you made your Softer Butter “Now Even Softer”?
Unlike most brands, we at Kerrygold do not add vegetable oil to make our Softer Butter more spreadable.
However some of our consumers told us that we were not as soft straight from the fridge as the other spreadables who add vegetable oil. So we have managed to make it softer without compromising its purity.

How should Kerrygold “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter be stored?
To enjoy Kerrygold Now Even Softer Butter at its best, use straight from the fridge and keep refrigerated after use

Should Kerrygold “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter be taken from the fridge a couple of minutes before use?
If you’ve been used to leaving Kerrygold Softer Butter out of the fridge before use (as we used to advise you to do) now you really can, and should, use it straight from the fridge.

Does Kerrygold “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter contain vegetable oil to make it spreadable from the refrigerator?
No, like all Kerrygold Butters our “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter is 100% pure and natural containing only one non dairy ingredient; salt to accentuate its inherent flavour.

Is Kerrygold Now Even Softer Butter as spreadable as other “Spreadables” from the refrigerator?
Although our “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter is spreadable directly from the refrigerator some consumers may find that it is not as spreadable as alternative “Spreadables”.  The reason for this is that most alternative “Spreadables” contain added vegetable oil, as much as 33% in some instances.  We at Kerrygold believe that the addition of vegetable oil to our Softer Butter would compromise its purity and naturalness so we have strived to make it as soft as possible without adding it.

Can “Now Even Softer" Softer Butter be stored at ambient temperature e.g kitchen cupboard?
Kerrygold Now Even Softer Butter should be used straight from the fridge and kept refrigerated after use. If you prefer to leave your butter out of the fridge, but love the great taste of Kerrygold butter, we recommend Kerrygold Packet Butter, which can be left out of the fridge for a prolonged period of time.

Is Kerrygold “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter suitable for baking?
Yes, our “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter is suitable for baking. However it should be used from the refrigerator as due to its enhanced spreadabilty it tends to soften up much more quickly than our original Softer at ambient temperature.  If you would prefer to store your Butter at ambient temperature for baking purposes then we recommend that you use Kerrygold Packet Butter as a substitute.

Is Kerrygold “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter suitable for home freezing?
Yes, our “Now Even Softer” Softer Butter is suitable for home freezing.  We recommend freezing it on the day of purchase for a maximum of 3 months.  It should be defrosted in the refrigerator and kept refrigerated thereafter.
